On the intracoastal heading South out of the Pamlico Sound, or North from Adams Creek (Beaufort, Atlantic Beach), head for marker FLR6S (Green marker, flashing every 4 seconds, 15'); this is the "Neuse River Junction" marker.
From the Neuse River Junction marker, head 14 degrees 2.4 miles by 194 degrees and you will be in Oriental.
From the Neuse River Junction marker, head 142 degrees 1 mile by 322 degrees and you are in the intracoastal cut through Adams Creek which will dump you out in Beaufort.
From the Neuse River Junction marker head 82 degrees 5.8 miles by 262 degrees up the Neuse River and you hit a Flashing Green every 2.5 seconds. At this point you are directly off Minnesott Beach (This is where the ferry channels are marked).
- From this marker head 124 degrees 7.3 miles by 304 degrees, "quick" green marker 15'
- Continue up river, 148 degrees 2 miles by 328 degrees, Flashing green every 4 seconds, 16'
- Continue up river, 160 degrees 3.8 miles by 340 degrees, Flashing red marker every 4 seconds, 15'
At this point you can see New Bern's Bridges. Follow markers under bridge and wait for draw to open, approximately 1.5 miles from last heading to Union Park.
From the Neuse River Junction Marker it is approx 6 nautical miles to Arlington Place and 19 nautical miles to New Bern's big bridges.
