Brian, Justin & Blair (and a few others that forgot to take pictures) were lucky enough to hook and land a few of these monster fish. These “Old Drum” grace us with their presence every September in the wide waters that surround Arlington Place, proving once again that we have one the best inshore fisheries in the world! Sssshhhhh, it’s a secret 😉
Drum of this size, 50 pounders, are some of the oldest fish on our coast, up to the ripe ol’ age of 40! Even though they are delicious on your dinner table, these drum are here to spawn, so if you land one don’t get too attached…..drum over 27″ are all catch and release. Rig of choice: poppin cork with a DOA soft plastic. Bait of choice: fresh cut mullet on a circle hook.
Our local waters come alive this time of year. Drum, tarpon, crabs, shrimp, flounder and speckled trout all call the waters of #CoastalCarolina home. Add this to the lllooonnnggg list of reasons why so many people L O V E #RiverLife.
