Arlington Place is located in the middle of a historically important and naturally rich region. And right next door to our community is the town of Oriental, located just south of where the Neuse River connects with the Pamlico Sound.
Oriental has earned a reputation as one of the most popular stops on the well-traveled aquatic thoroughfare of Pamlico Sound. Oriental is home to some of the East Coast’s finest sailing, including the Oriental Cup Regatta.
For years Oriental was a commercial fishing center, and big trawlers still unload their catches here. The town boomed in the early 20th century when loggers used the docks to ship the timber they harvested from the peninsula between the Neuse and Pamlico rivers. There are still plenty of boats in Oriental, but captains of sailboats and yachts now intermingle with the fishermen.
Oriental’s friendly, small-town charm and relaxed attitude make it an ideal spot to get away from it all, with everything you need just a walk or bike ride away. And naturally, the surrounding area offers exceptional opportunities for cycling, paddling, hunting, golfing, and more.
Arlington Place is proud to be a neighbor of Oriental, and we encourage you to explore and enjoy this historic and beautiful town’s many shops, restaurants, and services.
