One of the best things about living in Arlington Place is the fact that we are surrounded, literally, by dozens of coastal towns.  Each with it’s own unique history and charm.

Beaufort, NC – Our neighboring ferry takes you across the river where it’s just a short drive to Beaufort, or ‘Beaufort-by-the-sea’ as it has become known.  Founded in 1709, the town is the third oldest in the state with a rich maritime history.  Make a day of it….dine and shop along the waterfront district bordered by Taylor’s Creek and enjoy views of the wild horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks.  Hop aboard the water ferries to nearby Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks or maybe just take a stroll on the tree lined streets of their historic neighborhoods.

One of our favorite things to do is to take an early ferry over to Beaufort and launch our little Boston Whaler at the downtown boat ramp for a day on the water.  And when our arms get tired of reeling in dinner:), we anchor up to Shackleford Island and swim ashore.  Lunch seems to always bring us back to the Dock House restaurant for oyster burgers and a cold Corona.  And I can usually convince Blair to beach us on the shoals at low tide so I can look for sand dollars before we head home.  That’s why one of our slogans at Arlington Place is ‘Another Perfect Day on the Carolina Coast.’
