It was a picture perfect day for the Neuse River Day celebration this weekend. The Neuse Riverkeeper, Larry Baldwin, was quoted in the Sun Journal as saying “the 90-minute scenic cruise on the Neuse aboard the Joy Boy, co-sponsored by Arlington Place and Camp Seagull of Arapahoe, was a favorite Saturday and “got some people out on the river for the first time in their life.” Click http://www.newbernsj.com/articles/supporters-87861-neuse-riverkeeper.html for the full article and pictures.
Yeah, that last picture is Larry in the dunking booth…sorry Larry, had to do it!
We were happy to see such a big turn out for the boat cruises and know that a good amount of money was raised for the Neuse River Foundation in their efforts to “advocate, educate and protect” the Neuse River and it’s ecosystem which, believe it or not, has a 200 mile flow from Raleigh to our neighboring Pamlico Sound. The River is a precious resource and the reason that many of us live here and the reason that so many others want to live here.
