Now in its 32nd year, mumfest 2012 promises a grand fall weekend of family fun – something for everyone.

Produced by Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corp., mumfest a city sponsored event, is one of the finest award winning festivals in the state of North Carolina.The combination of family fun, entertainment, attractions, exhibitors and savory foods in the beautifully restored setting of downtown New Bern and its waterfront, is enjoyed by more than 80,000 festival-goers every fall.

An annual Reader’s Choice winner as Best Festival and top 20 Events Winner for the month of October for four years, makes mumfest an event you don’t want to miss.

New This Year…SEAFAIR our newest venue is a 228 foot mega yacht, with three decks of 28 galleries filled with art, jewelry and sculpture from national and international artists. SEAFAIR is the world’s first mobile mega yacht and one of the ten largest privately owned yachts in the United States. Groundbreaking in scale, ingenuity and style, the yacht will remain docked at the New Bern Grand Marina for mumfest weekend and opens for tours beginning October 12.  Tickets for the weekend are $15 at the door for a one-day pass, $20 for a priority multiple-day ticket. Advance discounted tickets available on-line at tickets.  The $40M purpose built yacht was designed by internationally acclaimed yacht designer Luiz De Basto. At 228 feet and 2800 international tons, it is the largest ship built for commercial operation in the Intracoastal Waterway and requires a draft of only 6.5 feet allowing it to dock at small yacht facilities rather than commercial ports.

ArtZone: Downtown’s burgeoning reputation as an art center will be showcased on the 300 block of Pollock Street (between Middle and Craven Street) where many talented artists will join together and set up their easels on the sidewalk so mumfester’s can experience the joy of watching artists work en plein air (in the open air) and in the galleries lining the street.

Visitors are encouraged to engage the artists, take pleasure in their creativity in the varied mediums, buy or commission an original piece of artwork or just take the time in this new venue to expand your experience at Mumfest.

Boat Show/Outdoor Life is a new venue incorporating the annual Boat Show featuring businesses related to outdoor recreation and sports activities. Adventure racing, backpacking, bicycling, camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, kayaking, running, sailing and standup paddle boarding are just a few of the exciting exhibits mumfester’s will discover at mumfest

This 49 passenger Eco-Tour vessel leaves from Union Point Park boat dock. Enjoy the historic waterfront, beautiful homes (including Nicholas Sparks’ house), and occasional sightings of osprey, deer, otters or even alligators. A refreshing and relaxing getaway from the hectic excitement of the festival midway.

Returning by Popular Demand! High-Flying Purina Incredible Dog Team: A collection of some of the world’s most athletic canines will perform at mumfest. The trainers and dogs entertain while educating people about responsible pet care and how to bring out the best in any dog at any life stage. Daily shows in Union Point Park.

YPG River Jam! at BridgePointe Hotel & Marina Riverfront. Little River Winery …mobile tasting room:  Mumfester’s age 21 and older can sample

a wide variety of wines produced from grapes grown in the foothills of North Carolina’s Uhwarrie Mountain Range by Little River Winery for a modest $5 admission fee.

The Little River Mobile Tasting Room located on Craven a one of a kind unit that sports nice amenities including air conditioning, hardwood and tile floors, granite countertops, mahogany wine racks holding up to 300 bottles of wine and big screen TV with surround sound.

It’s the perfect place to stop and take a break, enjoy a sip of wine and socialize before venturing out into the midway area once again to enjoy the many other venues.

Ever Popular and in Demand!  King BMX Stunt Show. Started by Keith King, two-time participant in the X-Games, the King BMX Stunt Show performs nationally in major venues including NASCAR Races and NBA halftime shows. King’s BMX Stunt Show features three shows daily of heart-stopping action with high aerial stunts and mind-boggling technical maneuvers when riders take to the air for a high-flying, high-energy ramp and flatland riding show. 

Amusement Rides:  Michael’s Enterprise will be back again with an assortment of rides for big and little kids. All time favorites, the Expo Wheel & Merry-go-round as well as Dino the Dinosaur, Willie the Wale motorcycle jump, Scat, Vertigo and others. Michael’s Enterprises is a MUMFEST tradition – something for everyone! 

Pumpkin Patch/Book Sale: Visit the Pumpkin Patch at Christ Church, corner of Middle & Pollock Streets, for a selection of pumpkins, gourds,Indian Corn, mums, used book sales, homemade baked goods and more. All Proceeds benefit local outreach. Open 9-6 Saturday, 12-6 Sunday.
