From Arlington Place it’s just a short three-mile drive to the free car ferry that zips you across the Neuse River. The ferry is really convenient, it usually leaves two times an hour, and it’s only a short 20-minute ride. It’s always beautiful out on the water; definitely the way to travel around here!
When you get to 101 on the other side, you can either go right to Morehead City or go left to Beaufort. Both of these quaint towns have lovely historical downtown areas with awesome restaurants overlooking the water.
On your way to Atlantic Beach? I’d recommend the top deck of the Dock House for a delicious oyster burger and a corona. Atlantic Beach is another great destination for beach shops and restaurants, but don’t forget that Fort Macon has a great beach with easy access.
You can also go to that area by boat and anchor up at one of the many islands that are home to wild Spanish horses. I haven’t been down there yet without a ‘Banker Pony’ sighting. And if you’re traveling by car, you can take a passenger ferry over to Shackleford Island for a perfect beach day complete with sand, surf, shelling, and endless views.
When you live at Arlington Place, you really have access to the best of everything!
