We met Chris & Kerry Walker early 2021 and worked closely with them on perfecting every corner of their modern farmhouse… aka the Bellamy Way Cottage… aka their new home away from home.
Construction was complete in April and the family of five quickly settled in, taking full advantage of ‘rivah life’. As they spent more and more time here, they would share with us their new experiences exploring the neighborhood and area and how happy they were that they took this leap of faith.
Figuring that you guys are probably tired of me preaching about AP, I thought it would be a breath of fresh air to hear the perspective of new neighbors. So I asked Chris “can you put that in writing?” and a few days later, this is what he sent…
More than a place . . . it’s a way of life . . .
“We bought a place a place in Minnesott Beach”
“Where?” A common response we get from our friends and family (even if you are a North Carolina native). If you are a native, then maybe you spent your summers as a kid at either the Seafarer or Seagull YMCA Camps . . . that’s Minnesott Beach. (read more about camp life HERE)
My wife and I had been debating getting a vacation home, and the debate was always “a beach house, a lake house, or a river house?” I had been looking all over the state of North Carolina for the perfect house, and from the moment we saw Arlington Place and met Becca, the onsite agent, we were sold.
Moreover, I believe we got the best of all 3 worlds when we recently bought a house this spring.
Located on the Neuse River, Arlington Place is set on an elevation that does not require homeowners to purchase flood insurance, a huge monthly savings if you are looking for a primary or vacation home. (read more about elevation appreciation HERE)
The neighborhood itself is immaculately maintained, and our family has really enjoyed swimming, playing beach volleyball, tennis, pickleball and basketball. (view amenity pics HERE)
On the Neuse River, there are plenty of places to go wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, knee-boarding, fishing, crabbing, or just getting out to relax and enjoy being on the water. (view water pics HERE)
My kids are obsessed and the feel is like you are on a river, that’s like a lake and at the beach all in one as the seagulls and pelicans fly overhead.
Dock your boat just a few miles down river at “The Point” which is a permanent sandbar next to the ferry, THE hangout on the weekends.
Next to The Point is the free car ferry, that takes you across the river to Havelock and the entire Crystal Coast.
Last night we went to Beaufort for dinner, and it was a perfect end to the evening riding the ferry back under the stars.
A golfer? I just played Minnesott Beach Country Club this morning for the first time with my son – only 5 minutes down the road from the neighborhood. A beautiful course and open to the public. The fees were very inexpensive and membership is less than my monthly gym membership. The course is a well-laid out older course with mature trees, very well maintained grass, and a very nice staff.
Here’s the bad news, every time I’m here, there is a somewhat depressing realization that at some point I have to leave.
I am more relaxed, I am more active, I get to do the things I love to do, and it’s a slower pace which allows me to savor the moments of life in our very fast paced world.
I feel very blessed to have found this little slice of paradise, and I hope you consider Arlington Place as a way of life too! ~The Walkers
