This Small Town Celebrates BIG!
The Croaker Festival kicked off in downtown Oriental today with a BANG, (literally…..they had a cannon). Tomorrow is a big day on the Oriental waterfront with a parade at 10, vendors, food and games, music in the park all day, a Regatta on the Neuse in the afternoon and fireworks over the harbor at dark. Since July 4th, 1980, the Croaker Festival, Pamlico County’s Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration, has taken place the first weekend of July, hosted by the wonderful folks in the Town of Oriental, just down the road from Arlington Place. From a street fair and carnival to fireworks and dancing in the street, it’s easy to see that these locals and weekend warriors know how the celebrate the Fourth of July in style!
