Join historic interpreters and step into Tryon Palace to learn the facts versus fiction of Diana Gabaldon’s award-winning Outlander series. The tour explores the lives of the fictional Fraser family, their friends, and their interactions with true historic figures of the Colony of North Carolina through the tumultuous period of the American Revolution. This tour covers books 4–8 and the Starz Outlander production seasons 4–7. Tour includes access to the 18th century Stable Office, militia encampment, and the Palace Gardens.
Join Tryon Palace interpreters for an adventure back to the 18th century. Meet with Governor Tryon’s cook in the Kitchen Office and learn about 18th-century cuisine. A local Apothecary or Surgeon will discuss remedies of the time to ward off illness and some of the instruments used for surgery. Details of the latest fashion trends will help you travel to the past successfully. Learn the facts versus fiction as presented in Bridgerton, Outlander, Poldark and our American Revolutionary period. Tour includes access to the18th century Stable Office, militia encampment, and the Palace Gardens.
The Festival will present music from many cultures, with performances by local artists, church choirs and musicians bringing their talents to New Bern from Africa, Asia and South America. The theme running throughout this inspiring program is brotherhood. As people from all backgrounds in our community gather to sing together, they will learn to appreciate our shared humanity and role as global citizens. Music has the power to bring people together and bridge cultural divides in a way that very few things can. It has the ability to transcend language barriers and connect people from different backgrounds and cultures through a universal language. The event will conclude with everyone joining to sing We Are the World. This is a free event.
NBCT’s Saax Bradbury Player Teens will rock the Athens stage with Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical. The show is a throwback to the days when ‘American Idol’ was new, ‘Glee’ was the #1 TV show and everyone was obsessed with who would be the next pop star singing sensation. Disney’s Camp Rock is pure fun for the whole family. Approximately 90-minutes: Rated , appropriate for most audiences but themes of teen rivalry and romance are present. The Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEP) is a public solid waste management authority that serves Carteret, Craven, and Pamlico counties. CEP provides residents with an environmentally sound and cost-effective system of solid waste disposal, and sponsors a series of household hazardous waste collection days in each of the three counties. ACCEPTED: -Cooking Oil -Drain openers -Batteries -Automotive fluids -Pesticides, fertilizers -Paint: latex* and oil based, paint thinners (dried latex paint may be disposed of via normal waste collection).
