Our goal has been, and always will be, to develop AP into a place that people want to call home, ourselves included. And for most, home is not just a house, it’s a lifestyle. It’s being surrounded by people you like, things you like to do, and things you like to look at, whether your view is the water or sunsets or pretty houses, preferably a combination of all three.

Development and nature don’t always go hand in hand. But when your motto is “development inspired by the land”, cues are taken from the natural beauty that surrounds us, and we try to do that beauty justice with what is built.
Change, the only constant
If you’ve been to AP lately you’ve noticed quite a change… the vacant lots that once lined our streets are now dotted with houses around every bend in the road. There was a time when you could easily count the number of homes completed and under construction, but when you push well past the 100 mark it’s tough to keep up.

So. Much. Newness.

Throughout the last few years, we have had 15-20(ish) homes under construction at any given time. Seems like just when a few get finished, another few break ground. For those of us who have lived here for a while, it’s neat to see the neighborhood come to life. For those of you who are new, we hope you can appreciate the lifestyle that has been thoughtfully created.

Building Character
A comment we often hear is that it’s refreshing to see a mix of home styles throughout the neighborhood. I’ll trade cookie cutter for personality any day. Most of our designs have architectural elements of craftsman, modern, farmhouse and traditional homes, with an overwhelming nod to coastal style.
The AP Design and Development Standards “provide guidance to homeowners, builders and architects without limiting creativity.”

While it’s easy for houses to all look different when there are just a few dozen, it’s infinitely more difficult for each house to be unique when you have so many. But character will always be something we strive for as we grow… both in homes and people.

Here We Grow
If land sales are an indication of what is to come, then we aren’t going to slow down any time soon. AP has represented almost 30-40% of residential land sales in Pamlico County in recent years.
We’re building a neighborhood, not a development… yes, there’s a difference.

Arlington Place has evolved into a place where people just want to be, whether they live here, are working here or are visiting for the first or 20th time. It’s a relaxed atmosphere where neighbors enjoy each other’s company but can also find peace in the nature beyond their doorstep. Where you crave being on the water (or on dry land) because the views call you outside. And I’m a firm believer that fresh air just makes people more pleasant to be around. It’s a place where you breath a little easier when you pull down Burton Farm Road because you know you’re almost home and you love where you live. It feels different here because it is.
