- Arlington Place owners start a donation campaign and over $2000 has been collected so far! A large donation of supplies was made to the Pamlico Hurricane Relief Foundation on behalf of the Arlington Place owners. Other donations will be used for a dinner for the Arapahoe Fire Department, Emergency Management teams and Law enforcement. Any remaining monies will be used for another supply donation. Thank you so much to all who donated!
- Storm clean up throughout the neighborhood along the streets and at the amenities.
- We are still awaiting final approval from FEMA about picking up debris on our neighborhood streets. According to FEMA, “debris removal from private roads is in the public interest, as long as access to the private road is not restricted.” Gates were specifically mentioned as access restriction, but our gates are open during the day and could remain open 24 hours on debris collection days if needed which would provide unrestricted access. We are getting clarification from the county before we proceed with other options for debris collection.
- Thank you to the many neighbors that volunteered their time and services to local relief organizations, donated food/supplies/clothes/money, helped clean up the amenities in Arlington Place, and for the fundraising efforts. Our county has a lot of healing to do and AP neighbors have been a big part of the local road to recovery.
- New exterior lights (8) ordered for the clubhouse. Install scheduled for first week of October.
- Gates purchased to block off the road leading to the storage area (two 8ft sections) and the back field entrance that connects our property to the Bluffs.
- Gary’s will be catering the “thank you” dinner from AP for our first responders on Monday, October 15th. Among other things, the thank you is for the dedication of the local fire department to lower the fire safety rating which in turn saved us a substantial amount on our homeowner’s insurance. And of course another thank you is deserved for all of their efforts before, during and after the storm to keep all of us safe and help people get back on their feet. We will be giving them a card/letter which will have everyone’s names listed that donated to the dinner.
- Arlington Place will once again participate in the Oriental Chili Cookoff held on October 27th. Want to join the team? Email becca@arlingtonplace.com. Diane will be heading up team AP!
- Mark your calendars for Neighborhood Trick or Treating on Halloween night, October 31st. The kids will meet at the clubhouse for a quick party then make their rounds throughout Burton Village. Neighbors outside of Burton Village are encouraged to meet at the clubhouse at 5:00!
